The 170th Fighter Squadron flew the F-16C/D Fighting Falcon. It is a unit of the Illinois Air National Guard. Its parent unit is the 183d Fighter Wing. At the direction of the BRAC all of the aircraft from the unit have been transferred to other units. The last aircraft left in October, 2008, one week shy of the unit's sixtieth anniversary in Springfield, Illinois.
